Steven Greenberg President

Steven Greenberg, President

Steven founded the Wine Cellar Club in May 1992 to meet the increasing demand for premium wine storage in Orange County.

Initially, wine storage was a basic service without additional amenities until the establishment of the Wine Cellar Club, which revolutionized the industry through innovative practices.

Steven's business model was designed to create a facility suitable for his own wine collection. Over the years, as the Wine Cellar Club expanded into Southern California's largest wine storage facility, the core business model remained unchanged.

Steven's passion for wine, especially French wine, has been longstanding. His interest in Old World wines began in the early 1970s when high-end New World wines were scarce, and Bordeaux wines from top chateaux were priced under $25 per bottle.

Steven extensively explored the wine industry during an era when Harry Waugh was a prominent figure as well as his protégé, Michael Broadbent. He participated in numerous tastings with industry experts. Prior to Robert Parker's rise as a leading wine authority, acquiring wine knowledge required significant effort through tasting and experiential learning.

Steven began collecting wine in 1968. By the mid-1970s, when Bordeaux prices tanked, he built an impressive cellar featuring premier Bordeaux wines. He and a close friend were among the first to import Salon le Mesnil Champagne into California. His purchase of a pallet of '75 Petrus, '75 Latour, and '75 La Mission Haut Brion marked a turning point, confirming his lifelong passion for fine wines.

As an accountant by training and a wine enthusiast by passion, Steven integrated his interests in classical music, art, travel, and collecting into the vision of the Wine Cellar Club. It is more than a business; it is his lifestyle.

His favorite travel destinations include the vineyards of France, Italy, Spain, and California, where he enjoys walking through vineyards, engaging with winemakers, and visiting local bistros.

Steven envisions the Wine Cellar Club as the foremost private wine storage and exclusive members-only social organization dedicated to wine tasting events, reflecting his passion for wine, classical music, and art. He has successfully positioned the club as the leading wine storage provider in Southern California, distinguished as the largest and only premier facility in Orange County.
